In the deep south east of Sicily, the seaside village of Marzamemi was founded by Arabs in the 10th century and to this day, remains a hidden gem of the south. Federica takes us through this charming village where she shares some of her favorite spots with us. Catch some sole at one of the sandy beaches in the area and you might even spot a pink flamingo at Vendicari and later head to dine under twinkling lights at the old fisherman houses that were converted to seaside restaurants in Piazza Margherita. Need a souvenir? Don’t leave without picking up a Sicilian delicacy like pistachios, wine and canned tuna.

Federica Meli

Born in Palermo, Sicily, Federica has a deep love for her land. She began storytelling through her recent project, Appunti Mediterranei, where she hopes to show the “intrinsic poetry that you can find everywhere: in the streets, in the countryside, by the sea, in every city. Sicily embodies the Mediterranean feeling, the beauty of simplicity”. Federica’s photography, a palette of colors of the sea and the sand, captures the “beautiful kaleidoscope” of Italy with a specific eye and appreciation for Sicily.
